Another v interesting aspect of Japanese culture is the whole ‘biomechanical’ theme in manga / anime. There’s a blurring of the line between the organic and the inorganic. Intriguing, unsettling, and I wonder where it comes from.
At a guess I’d say there’s a link with traditional Japanese animism.
