"No one is more confirming to norms than a rebellious teenager."
~Theodore Dalrymple
Just attach a negative sign to all the norms and you have the mental framework of a self-righteous teenager whose insecure self finds sense of security only in revolting against everything.
Because he believes by accepting what is told, he losses his individuality and becomes one among the masses. So he rather becomes one among the masses by rejecting what is told.
No other age group is more selfish, less giving and more vain glorious hence all cultures...
...looked down upon their opinions. But we are living in a youth culture today, where immaturity is glorified, this is the sole reason with questioning something becoming fashionable. In all ages question existed but never a person lacking skin in the game was taken seriously.
Which is why answer was always merited over the mere act of questioning. But we are a youth culture where immaturity is glorified so questioning becomes a virtue in itself.
All opinions are equal and as a result all opinions are equally bland and stale as is all things teenager.
