With the rise of 3 at the back build up structures the Wingers are often required to drop deep in order to offer a wide passing option. Most defending teams press this pass as it is an opportunity to force the attacking team to pass backwards. Not enough wingers make this run.
These are the runs that really hurt a modern back 5 as the outside CBs generally step out to press, leaving a big gap between the central CB & wing back. It only takes a couple of these runs to then receive - to feet - with more space. We need more dummy runs.
These are situations Pedri/David Villa used to live for. Barcelona have an overload on the LWB so there is no real need for Raphinha to drop that deep (Fermin going to ball) He should be spinning & ready to attack the last line Lewa plays backwards as there is no runner
