When you feel a bit lost, itβs important to remember the big picture and where you stand in the universe:
You are a primate living on a ball of dirt with enough water to sustain life, moving around another giant ball of fire at 107,000 km/h.
You are only a few breaths away from losing consciousness and dying, but you are also regularly worried about small things that don't even matter.
You overcompensated your physical weakness with intellectual prowess, and you are now dominating all the other species.
You made sounds that had meanings, you wrote stories down, they were shared from one generation to another, human knowledge compounded, magic was born, itβs called technology.
You wear nice clothes because you fancy beauty and being naked somehow became awkward, you play with numbers and money because it's intellectually fun, you come up with ambitious goals because the process of creating something great that doesn't exist yet is peace of mind.
You sometimes feel lonely, wondering whatβs the point of all of this, but you are reminded by your family and friends that the best moments in life can be very simple: playing with kids, a good workout, reading a good novel and transporting your mind into a fictional world.
You are getting older, you know that all your ancestors are gone, and you will be gone too, and it was a bit scary at first, but then you figured out that if everyone else made it through the journey, you can do it too, there is no reason you are not as mentally strong.
You also notice that everything you see around you are actually gifts from the previous generations who paid it forward, that a great society is the cumulated labour of love of thousands of people who cared about leaving something meaningful behind, and you want to do the same:
You may not have created the language you speak, the clothes you wear, the food you eat, the technology you use, but you certainly have a talent of some sort too, a contribution that only you can make, and once you found it, you will know it, and life will get so much more fun.
