one day this club will have an elite squad in all departments.
technical, physical & psychological β then the tactics will prosper where the manager will get plaudits on the TL.
push the squad to the limits all aspects to find the floor and ceiling of individual players β those not cut for elite level football get replaced.

the TL sees it the other way around β tactics first to cover up the technical, physical issues β itβs unsustainable, regardless of structure.
as tactics will stagnate or get tactically outclassed by opposition.
as a elite player for a top club, you will be required to cover ground, ride tackles, rotate, sprint flat out & perform 1v1 β no tactics will change that.
let the players that cannot carry this out be replaced through means of exposure in all aspects.

yes, EtH shouldβve returned to a more secure pressing structure for results (add FB or adopt mid block). I have stated this many times since GW1.
but if a player cannot cover atleast 35km a week efficiently (incl. high speed running) β they are not premier league standard in the physical running aspect.

if it costs the manager their job, so be it.
as a squad that needs that much tactical security to cover technical & physical aspects to wonβt compete for silverware regardless.

to get such a squad β it requires a transition and overhaul.
with the most prolonged fixture period in history of football being last season β there was bound to be muscular injuries & decline in physicality (Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona).
this is where EtH shouldβve managed the OOP to reduce physical exposure.
the IP back & forth transitions should and could be controlled by players decision making β especially in final third.

overall β tactics come last, but for tactics to flourish, the foundations need to be elite.
patience in whoever the manager is, is essential β till the floor of the squad is raised in all aspects, to become a more sustainable club.
not understanding a system doesnβt mean itβs wrong, especially if comparing to the norm.
this club also deserves a brand of football that supports the culture, DNA and ethos of the club.

thiago motta β technical expands the tactical (decision making process)
jose - ole - ragnick - eth - β¦
same cycle repeated at the same stage in transition.
tactical security will not take this club to the next level β players need to be pushed to extreme in each metric.
