Baby Farms 1800-1900’s 🧵 Where did all the orphans that rode the trains come from? Where did all these baby’s for the incubators come from? Where cabbage patch kids really farmed? (This is where the name originated) Has the trafficking of children ever ended? ⬇️
So who started these “baby farm’s”? It was Uncle Sam of course. Is it strange these farms started in the middle of a civil war?
As you can see from these news paper articles, baby farming was a thriving business, supported with the governments enthusiasm. But the conditions of these farms were appalling.
The Babies were treated so horrifically, some babies had been operated on with “shears” and worse…
Baby Farm and Infantorium are interchangeable words to describe the same institution.
This one farm had 44 babies die and still stayed open for business…
Coney Island was one of the most notable baby farms of its day. More than 5,000 children reared in one amusement park 🤔
If these institutions where truly about saving children, why where they allowed to let so many die or be abused?
Did you know that they actually had “baby substitution laws”? So many babies where switched with no record, laws had to be written…
How does a baby burn to death in its crib at a infantorium run by the state of NY?
The next couple of post will have no commentary… I will let the news papers speak for them selves and you can come to your own conclusions.
I hope you enjoyed these old newspaper articles…. They help us understand where some of these folk lores come from.
Last thought… 80-90% fatality rate in some states for these farms. Is this why the incubators became so popular?
