Small thread about my wife:
Ours was an arranged marriage. We spoke to each other 4 times on phone and met once for 15 min before engagement and marriage.

She had just got a job as Assistant Professor of Medicine in a Govt Medical College in Andhra Pradesh and I was about to get an MD seat in Vellore. She dropped that job and followed me. She could have had an academic career here too. 2/10
She joined as an Assistant Professor in Medicine. However just before she did, she suffered a miscarriage which was a big blow emotionally. The next pregnancy was very precious. During those days maternity leave was only for 3m. She wanted to take care of kid for longer. 3/10
So she resigned even before the delivery. We had our first kid. It was an LSCS. She took care of the child for a year and then worked part time in a charitable hospital for few years. In the meanwhile we had our second kid. 4/10
I shifted to New Delhi for higher studies. She left her job and came. She worked in a charitable hospital in Ghaziabad. She was in Emergency Med during COVID period. We survived. We moved back. Kids had to learn Tamil from scratch. They were recovering from online school. 5/10
She became a stay at home mom for a year. She prepared for a PDF entrance and got PDF in Diabetology. She worked mad hours during this period. After that she worked as research officer in the same department for few months. 6/10
She resigned her job on 15th and has started working as a private practitioner on 17th April 2024, 15 years after her MD. I am so glad for her. Whenever I go to Hyderabad or see a Govt Medical College I think about the life she could have had. 7/10
I have been growing in the past 15 years. I have gained respect as a doctor and a teacher. It came because I could have freedom not to worry about kids as she took care of them. The cost she paid is enormous. 8/10
I have not been an oppressive fellow shutting her career down. I had always been encouraging her. She herself had laid interest of kids over her career. I am sure a lot of women around the world are like her. 9/10
I have decided to be more available for kids so that she can do her private practice without worry.
