i don't actually know. ive seen ppl make this complaint before but have no ability to evaluate it not being able to speak chinese
i see immense subtlety in eg daoism but that doesn't seem like ethics exactly

for sure there's something distinctive about the western family system though and i wonder if that's relevant in what we would understand as sophistication of moral reasoning, or in what we understand as the matters salient to ethics

in this case one could frame the chinese poster's ethics as a Kegan 3 misunderstanding Kegan 4 as being an op or impracticable maybe

i realize i am poking at something sensitive here but i think its important to attempt this while recognizing that it is difficult to do so usefully

there's this weird thing about postmodern western cultural understanding where all cultures are supposed to be distinct and beautiful
but then if you actually try to understand HOW two cultures are meaningfully distinct your a monster. a dumb ignorant monster

well. i will be the retarded child whose willing to investigate these matters for you and endure opprobrium that we all might end up better for our learnings
