The internet would have you believe that the USA, UK, Europe, and the entire Middle East are essentially warzones at this point.
This is nonsense and anybody who travels regularly knows it.
The problem is that only terrible things make the news and go viral. Normality and civility is simply not newsworthy.
So, if you're terminally online and don't touch sufficient grass (or sand), it looks and feels like the whole world is in chaos and everybody hates everybody.
It would be easier for me to go viral by telling you everything is terrible, everybody is awful, and you have 365 days MAX until civilisation collapses, but it's not just not true. It's unhelpful and morally wrong to intentionally spread hopelessness and overblown fear.
You're probably already aware of the problems and things that need improvement. And there are many. But be careful of getting sucked into doomerism. It's no better than the people who fear mongered for years over 'covid' and convinced millions of people they were all going to die and even kill others, if they went outside or saw their friends.
What you see on social media is kind of real but it's also kind of not. Because you don't get the full picture. It paints biased narratives.
Maintain perspective. Go out there and be awesome. It's virtuous to be happy.
Both legacy and new media have a negativity bias. It's a combination of human psychology, monetary incentives, and algorithms.
Keep that mind and don't apply the negativity bias to life as a whole unless your goal is to be miserable. In which case, it's a fantastic idea.
