In the last 6 months, I've grown my X following from scratch to 25K.
The crazy part?
It's fairly simple.
The trick is to create 10x content.
Here's the exact blueprint you need to crack X (even faster than me)🧵
Some people think # of followers is all about status. But I care about reach.
In a world where reaching people is getting more & more expensive, organic & authentic reach matters more than ever.
This is the main value of building a social media following.
And because I enjoy writing, building on X has felt like play.
While I primarily write for myself, I also hope that my writing helps others - especially founders & aspiring entrepreneurs.
Enough about me!
Let's dive in on how you can do the same👇
1. The Basics
A great profile gets the basics write, this includes:
a) What you’re going to write about
This should be areas where you have experience and can provide unique & specific insights (experience >>>> expertise).
For me it's entrepreneurship, investing, and health.
b) Who you’re writing to
These should be people whose problems can be solved (at least partially) by consuming your insights.
For me it's founders, and more specifically, those looking to 10x their profits while saving 10-20 hrs/week & getting in the best shape of their lives.
c) A compelling profile page
Your profile should answer two of the most important questions:
i) WHAT will people get if they follow you
ii) WHO the heck you are & what you’ve done
d) Get familiar with the platform & make friends
Follow interesting people speaking about topics you find interesting.
Comment on their posts. Begin a dialogue.
Write a simple post or two about your thoughts (it doesn’t matter if people see it).
2. Write 10x content
On Twitter, 1x content will get you .01x results.
Whereas 10x content will get you 100x results.
This is why I want you to focus all of your time on writing great, insight-packed threads before spending time elsewhere.
Here's what impact it makes 👇
I published this thread last month that currently has 2.4M impressions and Elon Musk himself commented on which was pretty cool.
10x content = 100x results.
P.S. If you're serious about creating 10x content:
1. Dissect this thread
2. RT this tweet and tell me why it went viral
Important X stats: For a thread to go viral, it typically needs:
- >6% clickthrough rate on the hook
- >25% audience retention
- 12% bookmark rate
This is what you're aiming for!
3. Consistency
The hard truth is you'll never know what’s going to work and what isn’t on X
The thread you thought may go viral will fall FLAT.
That’s why you just have to be consistent & write threads (1-2 threads/wk) that you yourself are proud of (packed w/ unique insight)
Improve your writing over time by emulating the structure of other viral threads on X.
Eventually the results will appear
40%+ of my follower growth over the past 4 months has come from 5 threads!!
It's the best way to gain followers when you do not yet have a large audience.
4. Hooks are king
You can have the best, most insightful thread with the most relevant and specific information that is unique to your experience.
But if you don’t have a good hook, it doesn’t matter.
No one will read your thread.
For instance, in this thread below, I could have written “Here is my intense health and supplement regimen after 20 years of trial and error.”
But the hook I use is catchier and more specific.
It makes people curious to learn how they too can lower their biological age.
5. Have friends Retweet your threads
It’s best to get organic retweets, but when you’re first starting, you might want to get some help.
Have friends that have larger follower counts than you retweet your threads IF they like them.
This can act as a catalyst in your growth.
Note that they’re likely only going to do this only if:
(i) your content is awesome and it serves their audience
(ii) you’ve scratched their back by commenting on their posts, retweeting their content, and getting to know them to learn how you can help them too.
Hence it becomes important to connect with and follow people who speak about similar topics as you, serve the same/similar audience as you, and produce high quality content that you appreciate.
Bonus tips:
1. The more specific the writing the better (don’t say “I like to read in the morning” instead write “I read Scarcity Mindset by Michael Easter this morning at 6am”)
2. Include relevant images in the thread to make it more visually appealing
3. Automatically schedule your threads to re-post 8 hours after first publishing
Here are the tools I use:
- Typefully to write/schedule/publish threads
- Grammarly to help make my writing more persuasive
- Hypefury to schedule individual Tweets (I rarely write in real-time)
That's it from me.
I hope this blueprint will help you get on your way to creating a meaningful and eventually massive social following.

A bit about me:
20 years ago, I was a broke biomedical engineering college student trying to get my first biz off the ground.
Since then, I’ve grown six 7-figure businesses, three 8-figure businesses & raised $50M+ in VC.
I'm also a General Partner at The Family Fund.
And I do all of this while prioritizing my health, traveling for fun every month & not grinding 247.
I go deeper into everything I’ve learned about building businesses, investing & founder performance in my newsletter.
