First off, this recognition is too little, too late. Not only did 138 states recognize Palestine in 2012, but on day 230 of genocide, we need weapons sanctions, arrest warrants, and boycott to stem Israel’s ongoing atrocities.
I didn’t even finish my comment before the German anchor shortcircuited and scolded me bc “Israel doesnt use those words” she meant apartheid and genocide but couldnt bring herself to even say them.
It wasnt that she asked me to respond to Israel’s objections to the terms- she was admonishing me for violating a rule set by a belligerent state found to be plausibly committing genocide by the ICJ & whose leaders are wanted by the ICC that a news agency complied with.
I challenged the anchor to check her sources. What authority does Israel have to set rules if they dont even recognize Palestinians as a people and are livid about the outcome (Palestinian statehood) of the supposed “peace process.” How dare they try & why does @dwnews oblige?
@dwnews We never got back to the statehood side show and she ultimately cut the segment. Meanwhile, the producer who was super eager to book me has disappeared & another producer came online to explain to me that the network no longer shares links to their segments bc of “copyrights” 👀
