But wait @ardenthistorian, there's more! I first became familiar with the hashtag “Revolt against the Modern World” while studying tradwives, but its appeal crosses several ideological boundaries.
🧵1/7
Evola was a racist, anti-egalitarian, anti-liberal, anti-democratic Italian fascist who promoted an "idealized traditional society" where women were dominated by men and her husband was "her lord."
2/7
He argued that "modernity" was responsible for the move away from his imagined "ideal society" that demanded racial hierarchy, strict gender conformity, and radical traditionalism. He wanted to reinstate a caste system & believed we should return to rule by an aristocracy.
3/7
He was a harsh critic of Christianity, calling it “one of the main sources of the decadence of the West.” He asked, “Which kind of State, not to mention Empire, can we build based on a Gospel preaching obedience …”
4/7
Nevertheless, Evola’s rabid Traditionalism was apparently enough to have earned him an embrace from the extreme Christian right.
5/7
British historian Richard Barber once said, "Evola mixes rhetoric, prejudice, scholarship, and politics into a strange version of the present and future, but in the process, he brings together for the first time interest in the esoteric and in conspiracy theory."

These are just a few examples (and an overly simplified explanation for X) of how a virulent antisemitic Traditionalist, whose been dead for 50 years, was reborn into a far-right influencer. 7/7
