"Nikola Tesla" is the most influential inventors in history whose brilliance literally lit up the world we live in today.
He was called the 'Smartest Man Alive' by Einstein due to his advanced ideas that were ridiculous and crazy for many people of that time.
Let's explore his past life that made him a legend.

1. Ironically, He was born during a lightning storm.
- Tesla, the man whose research revolved around electricity was born during a lightning storm around midnight.
- It is known that the lady who was assisting Tesla's mother openly declared that the lightning was a bad omen and that Tesla would be child of darkness. On this, his mother said, "No, he will be child of the light"
- This dramatic entrance into the world foreshadowed his groundbreaking work in electrical engineering and his later experiments with light​.

2. He and Edison were rivals, but not enemies.
- Many people consider them enemies, but in reality Tesla used to work for Edison designing DC generators, but famously quit to pursue his own the AC induction motor project.
- Edison once attended a conference where Tesla was speaking and slipped into the back of the auditorium to listen to the lecture. But Tesla spotted Edison in the crowd, called attention to him and led the audience in giving him a standing ovation.
- The two had a love/hate relationship. once, “When there were fires at Tesla’s laboratory, Edison provided him a lab, so clearly there was some mutual respect,”

3. He once made 'Mark Twain' poop out of fear.
- Residents living near Tesla's laboratory often said that he had an 'earthquake machine' that could shake and bring down the entire block but it was actually a high-frequency oscillator which shook violently.
- Tesla once invited writer Mark Twain who had digestive problems, to his lab and made him stand on a platform that was connected with the oscillator and the platform shook so violently that it scared Twain into jumping off it and running for toilet facilities
- Tesla said, "it didn’t bring the block to ruins, but it did “shake the poop out of Mark Twain.”

4. He developed the idea for smartphone technology in 1901.
- Tesla may have had a brilliant mind, but he was not as good at reducing his ideas to practice. In the race to develop transatlantic radio, Tesla described to his business partner, J.P. Morgan, a new means of instant communication.
- it involved gathering stock quotes and telegram messages, funneling them to his laboratory, where he would encode them and assign them each a new frequency. That frequency would be broadcast to a device that would fit in your hand.
- In other words, Tesla had envisioned the smart phone and wireless internet, Carlson said, adding that of all of his ideas, that was the one that stopped him in his tracks.

5. He never got married for a weird reason.
- Tesla did not marry and once said that he felt he could never be worthy enough for a woman so he devoted himself to studying science.
- He also believed that romantic intimacy would interfere with his research, once said that he was in love with a white pigeon. Toward the end of his life, he recalled: “I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.”
- This unwavering dedication to his work led to incredible innovations, but also a solitary personal life, highlighting the unique and often eccentric nature of his genius.

6. He wanted to power the world with the Niagara falls.
- Nikola Tesla had a grand vision to harness the power of Niagara Falls to electrify the world. In 1895, his dream became a reality with the completion of the first hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls, using his revolutionary alternating current (AC) system.
- This groundbreaking achievement demonstrated the immense potential of renewable energy and marked a pivotal moment in the history of electricity.
- Tesla's innovative work at Niagara Falls not only provided power to nearby cities but also paved the way for the widespread adoption of AC power, forever changing how electricity was generated and distributed globally.

7. He claimed he had visions and believed in aliens.
- Tesla often claimed he experienced vivid visions that guided his work and described the visions as flashes of light, revealing intricate details of his inventions. Tesla also held unconventional beliefs, including the existence of extraterrestrial life.
- He famously suggested that his wireless transmissions might be intercepted by beings from other planets. In 1899, he reported receiving mysterious signals while experimenting with radio waves in Colorado Springs, which he interpreted as communications from intelligent beings on Mars.
- These eccentric ideas, while controversial, added to the mystique of Tesla's already extraordinary and enigmatic persona.

8. Women wearing pearls would drive him crazy.
- Tesla could not stand the sight of pearls, to the extent that he refused to speak to women wearing them. When his secretary wore pearl jewellery, he sent her home for the day.
- No one knows why he had such an aversion, but Tesla had a very particular sense of style and aesthetics, Carlson said, and believed that in order to be successful, one needed to look successful. He wore white gloves to dinner every night and prided himself on being a “dapper dresser.”
- Every photograph of Tesla, he said, is very carefully constructed to capture his “good side.”

9. After all the innovations, he still died poor.
- Despite his groundbreaking innovations and contributions to modern technology, Nikola Tesla died penniless and alone in 1943. Throughout his life, Tesla was more focused on his scientific pursuits than on financial gain.
- He often neglected to secure patents or royalties for his inventions. His ambitious projects and lack of business acumen led to numerous financial struggles.
- By the end of his life, Tesla lived in a modest New York City hotel room, relying on the kindness of friends and benefactors. His death marked the end of a life filled with brilliant ideas but overshadowed by financial hardship and obscurity.
