If you are reading this, I'm damn sure that
your blood must be boiling with what happened
in RG Kar Medical College on the night of 8th-9th Aug.
And, rightfully so.
So, much has happened in the past one week that
it is important for us to be aware about:
- what exactly happened
- who all were involved
- what has been uncovered until now

1/ A 31 YO, Female-doctor was on her duty the night of 8th Aug.
Like the usual, she finished her duty hours and had dinner with her juniors at 2 AM.
After having dinner, she went to sleep in the seminar room, as there was no alloted room for the doctors to rest.

2/ On the morning of 9th Aug, the Asst Superindent Dwaipayan Biswas called up the family and told them that their daughter has died by suicide.
When the family reached the hospital, they were made to stand outside for 3 hours and the authorities did not allow them to see the body.

3/ When they saw the body, it had no cloth over it.
Moreover, her legs were at right angle, which means her pelvic girdle was torn apart.
It is to be noted here that her body was not found in the seminar hall where she went to sleep.
Instead, it was found in the room opposite to it,
where the construction work was going on.

4/ The initla autopsy further revealed the shocking facts:
- 150g of semen was found in her body - an avg male can only produce 15g
- Her eyes were bleeding because the glasses she was wearing had broken and gone inside her eyes.
- Her lips were injured and there were clear signs of violent struggle
- Her death happened somewhere between 3-5AM on 9th Aug 2024
Everything pointed at a brutal se*ual assualt.

5/ CCTV footage has revealed one prime accused Sanjay Roy who has been sent to police custody till Aug 23.
Sanjay is a Civic Assistant who has admitted to the crime.
He is the only arrest made till date.

6/ After the incidents, the parents said that they cannot trust State Police and the investigation will be derailed and the culprits will not be brought to books.
They met Mamata Banerjee who also happens to be the Home & Health Minister of Bengal on Aug 12.
Mamata ordered state police to complete the case by Aug 18th.
But, on Aug 13th, the CBI probe was ordered by the Court.

7/ Now, on the night of 15th Aug a mob, infact a machinery of 7000 people was sent
(you'll guess it if you are smart)
to destroy all the evidence and damage all the proofs in the college.
Police could not stop them.
Or police did not stop them. Nobody knows.
Because State Police reports to?

8/ High Court has thrashed Mamata Banerjee & State Police on their public failure to control the state.
The court has also said:
"Hard To Believe Police Didn't Know..."
Section 144 (which prohibits large public gatherings in notified areas) was in effect at the time.
"... you should have cordoned off the area. "
the cops were told.
It further added:
"This is an absolute failure of state machinery..."
"So they (the police) couldn't protect their own men?
A sorry state of affairs.
How will doctors there work fearlessly?"
"You are taking measures? What are the preventive measures?"
19 people from the mob have been arrested so far.

9/ Mamata Banerjee has announced a rally today
for speedy trials and has given ultimatum to CBI
to finish the case by 18th Aug.
Politically, Banerjee's ally parties including
CPM & The Leftist Socialist Unity Centre of India
are demanding her resignation.

10/The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has
announced a 24-hour nationwide withdrawal of
services by doctors of modern medicine across India
in protest against the crimel in Kolkata.
The protest will start at 6 am on August 17 and
conclude at 6 am on August 18.

I think at this point in my the only punishment should be given to ra*ists is the dealth penalty.
Only then, cases like these will ultimately stop.
