Leo Frank raped and murdered 13 year old Mary Phagan, he bludgeoned her until she could no longer resist and when he was finished he strangled her to death. The ADL was formed after Leo Frank was convicted and lynched and it fought to have him pardoned despite his guilt.
Frank’s guilt was clear, as was evidence of his attempted coverup in coordination with his company leadership and lawyers, during which he perjured himself often. So why was there such an uproar in the Jewish community to defend a man who brutally murdered and raped a child?
