Why Waqf Board amendment is absolutely necessary-
Now that BJP-NDA has majority in the Rajya Sabha, it should move the Waqf bill amendment faster.
While I believe the Waqf Board should not exist in India, for now as starters, it is essential to curtail its unlimited powers.
Besides claiming an entire village recently in Bihar, the Waqf Board has made many absurd claims on Hindu temples and mandir lands under the Waqf Act 1995. The list : 👇🏼
1. Krishna Janmasthan temple lands ~ Waqf claims have been made on the land adjacent to the Krishna Janmasthan mandir, in Mathura. The temple was destroyed multiple times by Islamic invaders, starting from Mahmud of Ghazni to Aurangzeb.
2. Keshav Dev Temple ~ Waqf claims have been made on this Krishna temple in Mathura. This temple is located beside the Krishna Janmabhumi mandir. In 1670 Aurangzeb had destroyed this Keshavdev temple.
3. Gyanvapi “Mosque” ~ Waqf claims have been made on the so called Gyanvapi “mosque,” which stands beside the present 18th century built Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This “mosque” was constructed on top of the second Kashi Viswanath temple built in 1585 by Narayana Bhatta and Raja Todar Mall, which was destroyed by Aurangzeb in 1669.
4. Rudra Mahalaya Temple ~ Waqf claims have been made on this Shiva temple in Gujarat. Rudramahalaya temple was destroyed by Ahmad Shah I in 1415 CE, who converted the remains of the western side of the temple into a mosque, known as Jami masjid of Sidhpur.
5. Bhojshala mandir ~ Waqf claims have been made on the Bhojshala temple in Dhar (MP), which was once a temple dedicated to Devi Saraswati. This temple was destroyed by a series of MusL!m invaders : Jalaluddin Khalji, Alauddin Khalji, Dilawar Khan, and Mahmud Shah.
6. Somnath Temple ~ Waqf claims have been made on this famous Jyotirlinga mandir in Gujarat.
7. Ram Janmabhoomi mandir ~ Waqf claims were made on the Janmabhumi mandir land. However the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Hindu parties.
📍as per claims: Waqf Board has declared ownership of properties owned by Hindu temples, which includes 19 acres of land from Shri Shani Shingnapur Temple, 12.5 acres from Shri Kankaleshwar Temple in Beed, and approximately 1,200 acres of the 1,500 year old Sri Chandrasekhara Swamy Temple in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.
📍Besides the dangerous claims made on Hindu mandirs and temple lands, in 2022 the Waqf board claimed ownership of Thiruchendurai village in Tamil Nadu (has Hindu majority), which includes a 1500 year old Chola temple.
Another equally outrageous claim was made by Waqf Board (2017) on the land on which the Supreme Court of India stands.
