How to fix your dopamine-fried brain permanently.
It starts with 1 simple word you use everyday:
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that makes us feel pleasure.
And we get it from:
β€’ Drugs
β€’ Junk food
β€’ Pornography
β€’ Social media
β€’ Video games
β€’ Overworking
But if we get too much of it, our brains will build a tolerance, and we'll need more to feel good.
This leads to addiction, burnout, and depression.
So, every time we're about to engage in a bad habit, we can say "no."
Saying it out loud makes it real.
It forces us to consciously face the choice we are making.
This is called metacognition.
It's thinking about your thinking.
When we say "no" to a bad habit, we activate our prefrontal cortexβ€”the part of the brain responsible for planning, focus, and self-control.
This habit works because it's an intervention.
It's something that interrupts the mental pattern of giving in to temptation.
It forces us to think about the risk we're taking and the reward we'll receive.
It's also very simple.
It doesn't require a lot of effort, equipment, or time.
All you need is your voice and a willingness to change.
So, if you're struggling with bad habits that fry your dopamine, try saying "no" out loud.
It won't work all the time, but it's a powerful tool to have in your arsenal.
Remember, every time you say "no," you're building a new habit.
One that's healthier and more sustainable.
