Satoshi Nakamoto, the father of Bitcoin's identity remains one of the greatest mysteries in the tech world.
Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonym used by the creator or creators that created Bitcoin with โ€œthirty-one thousand lines of code.โ€
Let's get to know some unusual facts and theories about the founder of Bitcoin.
1. How it all started - origin of Bitcoin
- In October 2008, a message signed by Satoshi Nakamoto titled "Bitcoin P2P e-cash paper" announced the creation of the cryptocurrency.
- For the next two years, Satoshi remained active in the community, communicating with others in the development of the blockchain.
- Coming in at nine pages and 2,736 words. Satoshi mentioned he had been working on Bitcoin for two years by the time the white paper was finally released.
2. Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
- Using time stamps on Nakamotoโ€™s posts and emails, itโ€™s assumed that Nakamoto probably resided either in the U.K., the East Coast of the U.S., or the West Coast.
- Nakamoto was known to use the British spelling of certain words like โ€œfavour,โ€ with an added โ€œU,โ€ rather than the American โ€œfavor.โ€ For this reason, some have speculated Nakamoto is from the U.K.
- Given the amount of Bitcoin traced to wallets presumably owned by Satoshi Nakamoto, Nakamoto is most certainly a billionaire.
3. First major public investigations ended with Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto.
- Newsweek magazine revealed in a 2014 that Satoshi Nakamotoโ€™s real name was Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto and that he was an out of work Japanese American physicist living in California.
- But Nakamoto quickly denied the claim. He responded to the Newsweek article by saying the magazineโ€™s story had โ€œbeen the source of a great deal of confusion and stressโ€ for himself and his family.
- Apparently, Nakamoto had been unemployed for over a decade and hadnโ€™t even had internet access since 2013, when he shut it off due to his inability to pay the bill.
4. Only person who publicly claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto.
- Craig Wright is an Australian computer scientist, the only person who has publicly claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. Though the claim has been rejected by many Crypto enthusiasts.
- Wright filed for U.S. copyright on the Bitcoin white paper and its early code, and he was awarded both in 2019.
- However, itโ€™s been pointed out that anyone can file for copyright, so the award itself doesnโ€™t necessarily imply proof of ownership.
5. Although the founder is Mystery, the Goal was quite clear behind Bitcoin.
- Bitcoin was a response to the 2008 great financial crisis, which showed that even the worldโ€™s biggest banks can fail, highlighting the fragility of the modern financial system.
- Satoshi created Bitcoin to take financial control back from financial elites, giving ordinary people a chance to take part in a decentralized financial system.
- Bitcoin remains an open-source, meaning that no one has the power to own or control it in its entirety. Its design is public, and it is open for anyone to participate.
6. Satoshi Nakamoto might not be one Person.
- Some people speculate that a group of companies is behind the name, Satoshi Nakamoto actually being an acronym for SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola.
- Also, Satoshi addresses himself as โ€œweโ€ as well as โ€œI,โ€ which makes us believe that thereโ€™s a team behind this name.
- Various figures like Elon Musk, Len Sassaman, Nick Szabo, Adam Back, Hal Finney, Peter Todd are also potential candidates.
7. Net Worth of Satoshi Nakamoto.
- Itโ€™s assumed that Nakamoto owns at least 1 million Bitcoins. At todayโ€™s prices, it can be assumed Nakamoto owns roughly $20 billion in BTC.
- However, other than the original 10 BTC transferred to Hal Finney in 2009, none of this Bitcoin has ever been removed or moved from any of its wallets since it was originally mined by Nakamoto.
- The value of this Bitcoin might be one reason why Nakamoto wants to remain anonymous. The wealth Bitcoin has generated could lead to grave consequences from sinister individuals or even governments.
8. Why Satoshi Nakamoto Left?
- Some crypto experts believe that Satoshi simply lost interest in Bitcoin and left the project. The coding was getting too difficult, and there were some flaws in the protocol that needed to be settled.
- Before Satoshi left, he made a post on Wikileaks accepting Bitcoin. This makes some people believe that Satoshi got nervous about getting attention from Wikileaks, and this is why he left.
- Others believe that heโ€™s still actively involved but with another pseudonym this time.
9. Future of Bitcoin.
- Satoshi's creation has paved the way for the creation of over 11,000 different forms of cryptocurrency and continues to grow in value.
- Even businesses are beginning to accept Bitcoin as payment. The crypto market has also grown exponentially as more people become interested in mining and trading Bitcoin.
- In an industry notorious for its resistance to technology, cryptocurrency offered an alternative and secure mode of payment and investment. Since its creation, no hacker has managed to infiltrate it.
Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? Is Bitcoinโ€™s creator alive? Who is the anonymous genius behind one of the most important financial developments of the 21st century? What do you think?
