By TNG/DS9/VOY canon I'm talking carpeted hallways, cozy interior sets, noncorporeal lifeforms of the week, tachyon rifts that shift people to parallel dimensions where everyone acts like it's England in 1422, and long lingering shots of the ship in space with soulful horn music.
Sound design based primarily on the ambient sounds of the ship, too. Music is incidental, not constant. No flashy camera work either, it needs to be shot like a Law and Order episode.
Lots of crew members learning to live with each other and collaborating to solve the problem of the week with scientifically plausible technobabble, zero women crying and taking out their "trauma" and telling each other how strong they are.
Lots of diplomacy, geopolitical intrigue and secondary/tertiary returning characters. Zero winking callbacks to the superficialities of old Trek.
They can stop by Terrell Station to deliver equipment and get an update on the Ceti Alpha V terraforming project, and there may even be a memorial to Khan and the augments in the background, but nobody says anything about it. That sort of writing.
New technology is OK, like, say, using holograms for personal communication, or crewmembers using the holodecks as 3D space Zoom webcams to immersively visit their families back home. Starships with windows on the bridge where the viewscreen is supposed to be are not OK.
Etc etc etc etc etc.
