Sher Singh born on 26 Dec 1899 at Sunam village of Punjab to Tehal Singh, a Kamboj, low-skilled low-paid labourer and his wife Narain Kaur.
He was their youngest child, with a two-year old brother.
He lost his mother at age of 3

Whilst taking the boys by foot to Amritsar, their father collapsed and died at Ram Bagh Hospital.
The two brothers were subsequently handed to an uncle who being unable to keep them, gave them to the Central Khalsa Orphanage.

His elder brother also died and Udham Singh became completely lonely.
After this 18 year old Udham Singh persuaded authorities to allow him to serve the British Indian Army during the First World War.
He was subsequently attached to the lowest ranking labour unit

He was sent to Iraq by British army and he returned to Punjab in 1919 and started to do dharmik work for Gurudwara.
13th April 1919 was day of festival of Baisakhi.

From morning to evening he kept serving water to all people at Jalia wala Bagh and took blessings of 1000s of people there.
Everything was light and happy there and then at 5:30 PM in evening that massacre happened.

Bhagat sent him America to mobilize resources for freedom movement.

He returned to India on orders from Bhagat Singh, bringing 25 associates as well as revolvers and ammunition.
Soon after, he was arrested for possession of unlicensed arms, revolvers, ammunition.
He was sent to Jail for 5 years

Till then Dwyer was sent back to Britain.

He made his way to Kashmir, from where he tricked police and escaped to Germany.

Singh had entered the event with a ticket in his wife's name.
Singh concealed a revolver inside a book, which had pages cut in the shape of a revolver.

Court gave him death penalty.
This murder created sensation in entire world.

A German radio also supported Udham Singh and said that the Indians never forget to take the revenge even after 20 years

In custody, he called himself Ram Mohammad Singh Azad (Hindu, Muslim, Sikh).
