Much like Jurgen Klopp’s successful side, the beauty of Arne Slot’s Liverpool team is the balance that they have when in possession (and on transition), specifically how the tactical structure allows their most creative players (Salah & Trent) to excel. x.com
To enable Trent to play with freedom, the team needs a fast CB, who can cover large spaces & excel in 1v1 situations (Konate), & a mobile/tactically intelligent DM (Gravenberch)
Mac Allister is comfortable covering Gravenberch & Szoboszlai has the energy to work back
Salah high x.com
The Central Centre Back position suits van Dijk perfectly (he can cover organise/distribute).
One area to eventually upgrade (probably this summer) is the LB/Left CB position although Robertson is still performing to a decent level. x.com
In midfield, Mac Allister is the perfect partner for Gravenberch as he prefers to play on the left hand side, can defend & build from deep positions (as he did at Brighton) or push higher and play as an 8/10 (Wijnaldum type) as he did for Argentina.
The type Man City needed.. x.com
Szoboszlai is well suited to that inside right position as he has the pace to exploit the spaces created by Salah/Trent and get on the receiving end of their through balls
And he has the energy to recover and help Trent/Gravenberch (like Henderson did under Klopp)
Salah high x.com
Diaz’s movement is key in creating space for Salah/Szoboszlai & Gakpo (how Firmino moved when in the final 3rd) and Gakpo is the perfect LW to take advantage of those far post crosses from Salah/Trent (like Mane).

An elite team has balance and unselfish/tactically flexible/hard working players, most of whom are sacrificing aspects of their game in order to help the match winners excel.
That’s how you win Championships. x.com
