🧵 The Harappan Genome Study: The final nail in the coffin of the Aryan Invasion Theory!
A landmark study (Shinde et al., 2019) on ancient DNA from Rakhigarhi demolished AIT.
Here’s how genetics shattered the colonial lie! 🚨🔥
1/ For decades, the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) claimed that Indo-European languages & Vedic culture came to India via Central Asian "Aryan invaders" (~1500 BCE).
But in 2019, DNA from the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) exposed the truth.
2/ What was the study?
Led by Prof. Vasant Shinde (@ProfVasant) & a global research team, the study sequenced the first ancient Harappan genome from Rakhigarhi, the largest IVC site.
🚨 Result? NO Steppe (Aryan) ancestry in the Indus Valley Civilization.
3/ So, who were the Harappans genetically?
The genome analysis showed that IVC people had:
✅ Indigenous South Asian hunter-gatherer ancestry
✅ Ancient Iranian-related lineage that split from Iranians >12,000 years ago!
NO Steppe, NO Aryan invasion! 🚫🏇
4/ This is HUGE.
The Harappan genome matches modern Indians, proving genetic continuity—not replacement.
In fact, the study says:
🚨 "The largest source of ancestry for present-day South Asians is the same as that of IVC inhabitants."
5/ Another shocker: Farming in South Asia was NOT introduced by West Asian migrants! 🚜
The Iranian-related ancestry in IVC came from a lineage that pre-dated agriculture.
Harappans developed farming independently, NOT through migration from Mesopotamia.
6/ This also debunks the "Aryan Migration" theory.
Steppe ancestry appears after 2000 BCE, long after the IVC peaked.
🔹 It came in small amounts.
🔹 It was limited to Northern India.
🔹 It did NOT replace existing populations.
7/ The "Indus Periphery" individuals found in Iran & Central Asia were migrants from IVC, NOT the other way around!
IVC people traveled west, influencing these regions—but they remained genetically distinct.
8/ And what about the Vedas?
The Rig Veda describes the Sarasvati as a mighty river—matching its course before it dried up (~1900 BCE).
If "Aryans" arrived in 1500 BCE, how did they describe a river that had already disappeared? 🤔
9/ The evidence is clear:
✅ Harappans were ancestral to Indians.
✅ No Aryan invasion—Steppe ancestry came much later & had limited impact.
✅ Vedic culture developed in India, not brought from outside.
10/ This study proves:
🚨 Indians have an unbroken civilizational lineage from the IVC to today.
🚨 Sanatan Dharma, Sanskrit & the Vedas are INDIGENOUS to Bharat.
🚨 The colonial narrative of an "Aryan Invasion" is DEAD. 🔥
11/ The findings were published in Cell (2019), a top science journal.
Yet, mainstream academia hesitates to acknowledge what this means.
But the truth is out—our civilization is 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬. 🇮🇳
12/ Share this thread to bust the Aryan Invasion Theory once and for all!
Time to reclaim our history with facts, science & pride. 🚩🔥
