An old photograph of Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya(Bihar) before restoration by J. D. Beglar in 1870s
Note the presence of pointed arch built using voussoir(wedge shaped stone/brick also used in Indus valley cities). Principle of true arch was definitely known and used by Gupta(s).
Observation of R.L. Mitra regarding presence of voussoir arch in Both Gaya Temple(read last lines carefully)

Excavations at Nalanda also revealed ancient vaulted brick chamber with section similar to that of Barabar caves(brick arch).
