Beloved,
Track your progress and celebrate those milestones. Write that gratitude note or letter to yourself. Teach yourself how to say thank you to yourself. Establish a regular self-assessment on your to-do list. Think about what makes you proud and grateful to be YOU.
Unquestionably, every day is a gift. However, certain days mark significant moments in our lives.
Monitor and document your progress toward accomplishing your goals, not just a single benchmark.
Personal Growth is nourished by encouragement. So yes give yourself the permission to celebrate even the small steps, efforts and actions you make each day because “small is where big comes from.” Pause to track your progress and celebrate something that is noteworthy.
I believe in the power of slowing down to reflect and come back home to oneself. I believe in the transformative power of stillness, adjustment, gratitude and self-compassion. The act of slowing down invites us to notice everything else.
▪︎Restate your performance elements in different areas of your life.
▪︎Highlight the most significant achievements related to the element for the rating cycle (health, finance, family, friendship, leisure, personal development, career & work volition, quality of life, etc.)
Nothing compares to being honest to yourself by acknowledging what went well, what needs to be improved or adjusted, what and where can you do better, how to solve or fix things when necessary, being a careful and empathetic listener to yourself and others, and staying teachable.
▪︎Remember the self‐assessment does not need to be lengthy but
highlight what mattered most during the rating cycle as you document your progress.
▪︎Make the connection between what was done and why it matters to you.
▪︎Cite instances where your actions/attitudes/behaviours/performance/conduct exemplified or
exceeded your expectations in different areas of your life.
▪︎Explain value. Whenever possible, translate your effort into results and be honest. Create room for learning.
▪︎Note the challenges you faced and how you responded to those challenges. Overcoming challenges is an important part of the overall self-assessment and progress tracking
rating. Challenges may be external, internal, technical or interpersonal in nature.
They may also involve the ability to succeed despite limited resources or difficult circumstances. This is why you have to train yourself to be adaptable to change. Be teachable. Be open-minded. Be willing to accept responsibility. View situations with cognitive reframing.
Maintain an ongoing record, gratitude note, or journal, of major achievements throughout
each appraisal or self-assessment cycle you decide to do. By documenting small or major achievements as they occur, you have access to the information needed to complete a self‐
assessment.
Create a system to capture accomplishments such as:
▪︎Email folder
▪︎Word document
▪︎Notes on planner or calendar
▪︎File folder for each performance element
▪︎Gratitude journal
▪︎Manifestation list
▪︎Sending THANK YOU emails to yourself and keep in a folder.
Acknowledging milestones gives us the opportunity to reflect on where we have been, where we are now and what we can learn from each phase or part of the journey called life. Our growing and achieving is for the greater purpose of our service to ourselves and the world.
