OYSTERS
The hidden truth & history why this ancestral food favors:
- testosterone levels
- fertility
- & libido
a thread
Perhaps the most classic use of the oyster as aphrodisiac in history was by Giacomo Casanova.
It is said that Casanova ate about 40 raw oysters every morning for breakfast!
Although this isnโ€™t quite accurate, he ate a lot of oysters for sure.
Besides Casanova, oysters were associated with the the Greek Goddess of love Aphrodite and later with the Roman Goddess Venus.
This is because the oyster represented the femaleโ€™s vulva and it was prescribed as medicine to invoke lechery.
Testosterone production requires trace minerals for its production:
- Zinc
- Iodine
- Copper
- Selenium
- Magnesium
& Vitamins:
- Riboflavin or B2
- Niacinamide or B3
- Pyridoxal or B6
- Vitamin C complex
- Fat soluble vitamins
The mighty oyster provides most of these trace minerals and some of these vitamins
BUT
It also provides a series of peptides lesser known to man
This is why oyster boost T even IF you have adequate zinc levels...
Oysters contain specific peptides:
- D-aspartic acid
- N-methyl-D-aspartate
that play a role in hormonal signaling LH and FSH. These peptides boost T levels and sperm counts in men, and progesterone in women, naturally increasing libido, hence its aphrodisiac effect.
Oysters do contain the amino acid tyrosine which is a precursor to dopamine.
When dopamine levels are elevated it naturally correlates with and increase in libido and sex drive.
DHMBA an abbreviation of the antioxidant 3,5-Dihydroxy-4-methoxybenzyl alcohol which is a phenolic compound that has antioxidant properties reducing oxidative stress.
The peptides found in oysters elevate the enzymatic pathways like StAR & CYP11A1 that products testosterone.
