If you struggle getting high quality sleep, read this:
People that don’t frequently get high quality sleep are more likely to:
1. Get sick
2. Become obese
3. Have brain fog
4. Develop diabetes
5. Have lower sex drive
6. Be depressed/anxious
7. Have high blood pressure
Want to avoid these?
Start doing these 9 habits tonight:
1. Sleep in a dark environment
You can accomplish this by
A. Making your room as dark as possible
•black curtains
•removing/covering electronics
B. Covering your eyes
•Use an eye mask (I use Hush)
•Place a shirt over your eyes (sounds odd, but it works)
2. Make your room cool
The ideal temperature is around 65°F or 18°C
If having the AC all night gets expensive, use a fan, or even simply open a window.
Start with a thin blanket. You can always cover yourself more if you get too cold.
3. Make yourself cool
Taking a hot bath/shower before you sleep will calm and cool you down.
4. Sleep naked
This also prevents your body from heating up and you feel a lot freer.
I too was hesitant when I first heard this advice, but I tried it once and never went back.
5. Avoid high stimulation before bed
Whether it’s caffeine, work stress, TikTok videos/reels, and even late-night workouts make falling a sleep difficult.
Try to avoid high stimulus activities at least 2 hours before bed.
6. Have SEX
This is the only exception of a high stimulus activity you’re allowed to engage in before bed (assuming you’re going to finish of course, because you’ll definitely want to knock out after).
If this currently isn’t an option for you, don’t blame your circumstances, as nothing will change.
Improve yourself daily so this isn’t an issue (yes, it’s possible no matter who you are).
It’s a lot easier to “find the right person” when you’re your best self.
7. Journal before bed
There is so much power in simply writing your thoughts down.
I recommend you either
•Set a 15-minute timer
•Write until you fill out a full page
Don’t filter your thoughts, just write.
You will feel so much lighter afterwards.
8. Meditate
Meditation isn’t just for hippies and monks.
EVERYONE will feel significantly calmer by meditating consistently.
You can
•Search for guided meditations on YouTube
•Set a 10-minute timer with your notifications off, and simply close your eyes and breathe
9. Be a good person!
If you pushed yourself mentally, physically, and improved people’s lives, falling asleep at night becomes easy.
If you were lazy all day and made people’s lives worse, your guilty conscious will prevent you from falling sleeping.
