Here's the easiest way to become a better leader:
Getting honest feedback is incredibly important as a leader.
But, getting it can be challenging.
That's why my team uses anonymous reviews.
Here's how it works:
Create a survey using the following 10 questions.
Answer the questions yourself.
Then send it to your team to answer anonymously.
Compare your answers with your team's answers.
Adjust your actions accordingly.
Questions for your team:
1. Is this manager effective at solving problems?
2. Does this manager take appropriate risks to grow the company?
3. Do the actions of this manager inspire growth and development?
4. Is this manager able to resolve conflict appropriately?
5. Do you receive constructive feedback from this manager?
6. Is this manager available to provide help and feedback when you want it?
7. When making important decisions, does this manager consider the opinions of others?
8. Does this manager consistently reward employees for good performance or behavior?
9. Do you feel this manager sets a clear direction that aligns with the organization’s strategy?
10. Does this manager control their emotions and behavior, even when faced with high-conflict or stressful situations?
Questions for yourself:
1. Are you effective at solving problems? Why or why not
2. Do you take appropriate risks to grow the company?
3. Do your actions inspire growth and development in others?
4. Are you able to resolve conflict appropriately?
5. Do you regularly deliver helpful feedback to your team?
6. Are you available to provide help and feedback to your team?
7. Do you include your team when making important decisions?
8. Do you consistently reward employees for good performance or behavior?
9. Do you set a clear direction that aligns with the organization’s strategy?
10. Do you control emotions and behavior, even when faced with high-conflict or stressful situations?
To get the most out of these surveys—
Do them regularly.
AND take rigorous notes based on what your team says.
