Smoking can actually be good for you ๐งต
When nicotine binds to the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors (nAChRs) throughout the central and peripheral nervous system it has a neurophysiological effect, releasing acetylcholine which contributes to enhanced cognition and attention.
In the brain, acetylcholine functions as a neurotransmitter. The brain contains a number of cholinergic areas, each with distinct functions; these play an important role in arousal, attention, memory, and motivation.
Nicotine also stimulates dopamine release and increases sympathetic nervous system activity. Great for a pre-workout.
Nicotine can also increase DHT levels. When DHT is metabolized via 3 alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (HSD) activity, which converts DHT to 3 alpha-androstanediol (3 alpha-diol).
Nicotine can prevent this metabolic clearance of DHT as it is an HSD inhibitor, creating more DHT to accumulate.
Benefits of DHT:
Deepening of the voice
Beard growth and chest hair
Protective hormone towards cells and glands
Lowers estrogen and protects against its effects
Has a longer-lasting effect on the androgen receptor
Higher libido as DHT is a natural aphrodisiac

Smoking lowers estrogen by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme. This inhibition is however temporary. Men need adequate amounts of estrogen; too much or too little estrogen can both be problematic.
Don't smoke, but enjoy cigars. Pure tobacco is to be celebrated, not to be abused.
