Most people suck at writing.
But ChatGPT doesn't.
You can rewrite your stuff like a veteran writer with the right prompts.
6 prompts to edit your writing like a published author:
1. Structuring of post - 1/3/1
A block of text is repelling.
Readers' eyes are not fixating on anything; everything seems like a ton of work.
Remember, if they have to use their conscious mind, they'll leave. Instantly.
So always use the 1:3:1 technique.
Prompt:
Rewrite each bullet point in such a manner:
Open with a single-short sentence. (Main argument)
The second line clarifies your opener with credibility or example.
The last line is your conclusion.
( Insert your writing)
2. Set the tone with the right words
Writing includes a ton of storytelling.
But you can ruin the scene with the wrong words.
Different words in the same sentence will leave a different impact.
Prompt:
Rewrite this story in this manner:
• Style: Uplifting and motivational (put the state you want them to be in)
• Objective: To make them empathetic towards our main character
• Reading level: 8th grader
• Be concise, don't give generic response
(Insert writing)
3. Pet peeves
You have a pet word.
You overuse it on most occasions.
A common list is "very," "really," "thing," "just," and "that."
90% of the time, they can be removed.
Prompt:
Analyze this writing and remove all the extra words.
Prune all sentences in the same manner.
( Insert your writing)
4. Sentence length to control the pace
Short sentences create urgency.
They're intense and immediate.
But Long sentences are slow, reflective, and used to express a sensory feeling.
Prompt:
Rewrite this writing in the following ways:
• 60% of sentences should be short, nothing more than 7-9 words.
• 40% of sentences should be long, but not more than 15-20 words.
( Insert your writing)
5. Passive voice and active voice
Passive writing is for people sitting in backseats.
Active voice drives your readers home.
They feel the action firsthand.
Prompt:
Analyze this writing and rewrite all the passive voice sentences into active voice sentences.
6. Backing your claims
Most times, writers make bold claims.
But they completely forget to add:
• Why it matters
• How it can help the reader
A confused reader will leave scroll past your post faster than light.
