I sympathize but...'you can't con an honest man'
Imagine this situation: A man readily does menial labor at a prestigious law firm, for free, so long as he has an email address/some kind of title, and can tell others he works there.
Maybe they're exploiting him, but...
Worse still, imagine he's this done for years at big law firms, commercial banks, top tech companies, etc. - producing the world's most superficially impressive but actually pathetic resume, then comes to you swearing he wants to do honest work - but only for a very high salary.
It would be pretty stupid to formally hire him for anything serious - but he might actually be *perfect* for doing the menial gigs he himself had decided to become proficient at, maybe for some kind of per diem. After all, isn't that what he'd chosen to do?
