Most people take about 23000 breaths per day.
And many mess it up. Badly.
One change can:
β€’ Reduce brain fog
β€’ Improve digestion
β€’ Increase relaxation
How to breathe.
The right way.

The "normal" breathing rate is 12-20 breaths per minute.
(Interestingly it's lower in older textbooks...)
That's what we look at to see if a patient is in trouble.
But even these "normal" breathers:
β€’ Slightly irregular
β€’ Breathe too shallow
β€’ Equal inhale and exhale
The simplest cue to fix all this is:
"Breathe through your nose more slowly."
There.
I've saved you hours of cringe IG nonsense & 100s of $$$ on "workshops".
There are obviously layers and complexity to this, but that's the basic requirement.

Proper nose breathing lets nitric oxide get to work.
Next thing you know:
β€’ Oxygen and carbon dioxide are regulated
β€’ Exercise performance improves
β€’ Blood circulation optimises
β€’ Blood pressure lowers
And all the other health benefits associated with blood flow.
Now think about this:
Shallow mouth-breathing is notoriously linked to sleep disorders.
And we all know how vital quality sleep is for LITERALLY EVERYONE.
Switching to nose breathing can significantly lower your risk of snoring and sleep apnoea.
And who wouldn't want that?
And when we breathe in and out through our nose - slow and deep - our parasympathetic nervous system is activated.
That's the part of our body that helps us relax.
It can also increase the amount of air that gets INTO our lungs.
Then ON TOP of this you get to slow down your breathing too!
Slowed breathing means more air deep into your air sacs and reduced dead space in your lungs.
This means:
β€’Β More arterial oxygen saturation
β€’ Easier and more sustainable respiratory effort
When this happens there's a deeper shift to relaxation in the nervous system.
Then your heart rate is lower, your blood pressure drops, you're more relaxed, you're happier and you're living longer.
It can even help alleviate symptoms of depression & anxiety & relieve insomnia.
So again TL; DR:
Breathe through your nose more slowly.
It's the end goal of most basic breathwork practices.
Right, literally time to fly.
