Here's what you can expect when you stop taking breadcrumbs for love and start taking your needs seriously:
1. Guilt: guilt will come up because you've heard all sorts of messaging about being "selfless." People rarely talk about how guilt comes up any time we make changes in our lives. This is a good sign.
2. You might feel a lot of anger: you start to realize how often you fell into people pleasing and allowed yourself to take breadcrumbs for love. Anger is a very valid response to this realization and a sign you're waking up.
3. Relationships might change or end: once we start taking our needs seriously, we expect reciprocity. Reciprocity is the giving and receiving that happens in all healthy relationships. When we don't get this, relationships might end.
4. You'll gain so much confidence: confidence is heavily linked to safety in relationships. Once we are no longer allowing unsafe and unpredictable people into our lives, we being to trust ourselves. Self trust builds confidence.
5. New relationships will begin: as some relationships end, we create space for new relationships in our lives. These relationships will be with people who are more aligned with our values and more emotionally available.
