Black Seed Oil has a long history of use, and for good reason
Derived from the seeds of the Nigella sativa, BSO Oil is known for its diverse therapeutic properties:
-Antioxidant
-Anti-Cancer/Tumor
-Cholesterol Lowering Effects
and much more
Let's start with it's constituents⬇️
Thymoquinone:
A potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer compound that has been shown to inhibit cancer-cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, and suppress tumor growth in various types of cancerous tumors via inhibition of NF-κB/STAT3 and modulation of MAPK.
Thymohydroquinone:
Relatively similar to thymoquinone via antioxidant effects, protecting cells from oxidative damage, etc.
The difference? Alternative MoA's for anti-inflammation via inhibition pro-inflammatory cytokines and enzymes (COX-2 and iNOS)
Dithymoquinone:
-Inhbits NF-κB & STAT3
-Inhibits the proliferation/metastasis of cancer cells via modulation of cell cycle progression and epithelial-mesenchymal transition
-Reduces release of Inflammatory Cytokines
-Enhances the activity of superoxide dismutase & catalase
Nigellone:
-Modulates immune responses via regulation of immune cells
-Enhances the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines while suppressing secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines (f.ex: IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α)
Beta-Sitosterol:
-Lowers LDL-C, via NPC1L1 inhibition
-Suppresses migration/activation of immune cells involved in inflammation (macrophages & T lymphocytes)
-Enhances proliferation & activity of Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes & NKC's
-Enhances production of Interferons/Interleukins
Some trace compounds:
-Carvacrol, an Antimicrobial/fungal/parasitic
-Triterpenes: Decreases P-IC release
-Myristic Acid: Decreases neuroinflammation, modulates lipid metabolism, improves cellular signaling
Myristic Acid:
Undergoes Myristoylation (covalent attachment of myristic acid to N-terminal glycine residue of proteins) anchoring them to cell membranes & facilitating interaction with intracellular signaling molecules, improves insulin sensitivity/glucose metabolism, etc.
Carvacrol:
-Free Radical Scavenging (ROS mainly)
-Antimicrobial (disrupts microbial cell membranes, inhibiting pathogens)
-Enhances endogenous Antioxidants (also SOD & Catalase)
-Inhibits tumor Angiogenesis
-Cancer Cell Proliferation inhibition via PI3K/AKT & MAPK interference
BSO is a powerhouse.
-Anti: Inflammation, Neurodegeneration, Cancer, Tumor, Fungal, Microbial, etc
-Helps Lower LDL-C
-Free Radical Scavenger
-Antioxidant Properties
-Immune Function
-Promotes Wound Healing & Tissue Growth
-Reduce Swelling
Definitely a staple for your stack.
Can also help spermatogenesis, sperm motility and volume in men as well according to some studies 👀
I prefer the @Merakimedicinal BSO as of right now, but I also use the Nootropics Depot 10% Thymoquinone capsules.
I love both.
