The 8 MOST IMPORTANT NUTRIENTS for DENTAL health (plus why and how to get enough of each):
1. VITAMIN D
β€’ Promotes calcium absorption
β€’ Allows for production of antimicrobial peptides (kills bacteria + reduces plaque)
β€’ Promotes saliva secretion (antibacterial, anti-plaque)
β€’ Directly aids in enamel and dentin regeneration
Vitamin D protects against cavities.
Saliva from people taking 1,000 IU vitamin D/day:
β—¦ Remineralized teeth that were dipped in acid
β—¦ Nearly completely restored the hardness of teeth
Even low doses of vitamin D have been shown to cut cavity risk by ~50%.
Sunlight is the most important source of vitamin D.
>40 ng/mL (>100 nmol/L) in the blood would be optimal,
but almost no one reaches that amount, so supplementing is helpful.

K2 status is inversely related to:

⬩Bleeding
⬩Depth of tooth pocket
K2 is primarily in hard cheeses, egg yolks, and beef liver.
I also think supplementing can be beneficial if trying to optimize.
5-10 mg can be a good start, and it is very safe.

3. FOLATE (Vitamin B9)
β—‡ Important for immune defense of bacterial pathogens

Teeth are not just minerals, they also contain quite a bit of protein, and without enough, the teeth cannot regenerate properly.
