"I want to make money online but I have no idea which direction to choose"
If you find yourself saying this
Then this is for you
This thread will handhold you across your online journey from making your first dollar to scaling to $10k/mo+
//THREAD//
There are 2 main routes I recommend beginners to go into if they want to make money online
This thread will cover the Pros and Cons of all 3 as well as a roadmap of topics to follow to start all of them
1. Ecom brand
2. Starting an Agency
Before we talk about each you must understand one thing.
Every single one of these routes will have its own ups and downs
Each route will require a different skill set which involves the process of mastering them
You must commit to your path and recognize this
If you do not know how to master a skill then read this thread
Next up is managing your expectations
This journey will not be all sunshine and rainbows
You are going to fail, it's inevitable
What matters is will you get back up?
Remember - your vision stays the same but strategies change
If some strategy doesn't work then it isn't the end of the world
Your goal obviously isn't to fail but once it happens (AND IT WILL) learn to pivot and create a new solution
Your goal as a person making money online is to seek solutions
Stay solution-focused
Last point before we start talking about each path to making money online is to understand there isn't much new under the sun
This means thousands of people have done what I am going to teach you
And thousands of them have failed for you so you don't have to make the same
mistake as them
Google isn't your best friend - Google spits out shallow knowledge that is ranked based off the information they want to share with you
So instead of using Google I have a list of sites I read (this will be a new thread)
and forums + Facebook groups
Forums & Facebook groups will be your best friend as a newbie
You will get straight lined paths towards mastering specific skills- prime example being theutopia.io
They walk you through mastering the skill and making money online
At the same time you have an active community to get your burning questions answered
Now with all that being said, let's begin with your routes to making money online
1. eCom Brand
I am Wiz of Ecom - I have built multiple 6 and 7 figure stores and have scaled multiple client stores to 7 figs and beyond
It would seem uncharacter like to say anything bad about eCom but to be honest there is a lot of downside for beginners
There are a few routes that you can take here
A. Dropshipping - if you are serious about making money online, you've already heard about this
The advantages include:
- Low overhead cost
- Can kill product quickly and test new ones
- Fast way to master eCom
The disadvantages are
- Shipping times are absolutely terrible
- Product quality usually sucks
- Finding a winning product is time consuming and expensive to test
The last point about being expensive to test is the biggest turn off for newbies
The reason for this is because it's not as easy as setting up a store, beginning ads and making money
I failed at 12 stores before I had my first profitable one
You will need to test dozens of products to really find a winner which can cost you thousands and months
If you go this route you need to choose a product that is either
A pain killer - solves a problem
A vitamin - enhances someone's life
Best way to figure out what these are is by studying eCom brand and deconstructing what they are doing
B. Print on demand (POD)
POD is another easy barrier of entry route for new eCom brand owners
You can print your designs on white label products like hats, clothing, supplements, etc
Advantages:
- Low barrier of entry (easy to setup)
- Can have a store live in a few days
- Good shipping times
Disadvantages:
- Hard to stand out
C. Your own product
This is the best route for starting an eCom brand in my opinion
You creating or found a product that has a strong product-market fit and you know there isn't much competition out there
Advantages:
- High barrier of entry, not many people will be able to copy
- Branding it in a unique way and solve real problems
- Can really focus on customer experience and higher-quality marketing
Disadvantages
- High risk if it fails, you lose a lot of money
A prime example of this is @Amaa___Official with her brand @weareplantmade
She created her own product
Focused on customer experience
Improved the branding
Then focused on the money
Read this thread to help you with the exact steps you need to master to open a successful eCom brand
In eCom there are multiple skills you will have to master because most beginners don't have crazy budgets to hire teams

2. A Marketing Agency - My recommended route for beginners
Marketing agencies are about mastering a monetizable and selling it as a service to business owners who need it
The process involves choosing a skill to master
Becoming an expert at it by learning about it in our Marketers Utopia and practicing for free then getting clients
Clients will come in and pay you thousands a month to help them make more money
Example, I own an eCom brand, It does $150k a month and 2% of the revenue comes from emails
If you owned an email marketing agency, you would be able to offer that as a service to me by poking at my pain points and understanding my goals for my brand
Running an agency is broken off into 6 main buckets
1. Skill foundations
2. Business foundations
3. Onboarding
4. Prospecting/ outreach
5. Actual work & systemizaton
6. Reporting/optimization
1. Skill foundations Understand your skills - what are you capable of providing? List of skills you can master and offer
> Copywriting
> Email marketing
> Creative creation
> Paid ads management
> Designer
> Branding expert
> Social media manager
Choose a skill Master it
2. Business Foundations
Define your offer & services
- Your pricing plan
- Packages of services
- Define the niche you want to specialize in e.x Restaurants, eCom, Real estate
Sub Services
These are 4-5 thing you provide under each of your services
These sub services are a stem of your main offer E.x main offer - Email marketing for ecom brands
Sub offers - Campaigns, flows, lead gen (this is important for the actual work bucket)
3. Prospecting & close
Leads are your best friend
Here are the best ways to get leads for your agency
A. Open a twitter account learn how to grow it Tweet daily, Build credibility, Offer services for free in exchange for a testimonial
B. Cold email outreach @blackhatwizardd figured out the secret sauce here
He taught thousands of people how to master the skill and get a constant flow of leads
Check it out here gumroad.com
Stay consistent with outreaching and providing value on twitter - add them as a recurring task to your everyday schedule
My team and I still do it daily - You are never too good to outreach
3. Onboarding
This part needs to be as smooth as butter
The goal: Get all the information you need from your client to begin the work as soon as possible (no lagging)
This includes
> Accesses
> Branding assets
> Setting expectations
> Other assets based on offer
You can do this using software or zaps
The process will be:
A. Send out follow-up email after they pay to ask for access + assets then ask them to book a kickoff call with you
B. Kick off call you will overview what they gave you, and here you will set expectations for future
C. On the kick off call you want to overview all the lowest hanging fruits Onboarding must be systemized as soon as possible The more diligent you are, the better effect you have on your client (they see you are serious, this will help them stay with you longer)
5. Actual work and systemization
Most people think this is the only part of running an agency
The actual work in my opinion becomes the easiest once you mastered the art of the skill
The actual work is based on your sub offers
E.x email marketing Flows - 6 flows setup Campaign - Send out x campaigns a month Lead gen - setup
The work you are doing is the sub offers that you provide to people - our goal here is to get clients results using our skills for each sub offer
Then systemize
What is systemization? this will save you countless hours a year and help you hire the right people So you make more money and become freer
The system will be broken off into System Tasks SOP's( Standard Operating Procedures)
6. Reporting & optimization
Create a reporting sheet - Provide a monthly reporting to make you look good - One reporting sheet for each of your services
Then optimize the results - this will allow you to retain your client
80% of your role in the future will be optimization Independent variable tests to help you move the needle and get your clients better results
Optimization is done by tweaking a single variable at a time based on a hypothesis to see if it creates a better outcome
7. Bonus: Scaling & other client strategies - Scale based on your services. Setup departments for each of your services and systemize - Create case studies based off your clients BEFORE working with you VS After having you onboard - Ask your clients for referrals
In my opinion, for beginners, this is the route I would choose
Because there is a low barrier of entry but you work towards really understanding the marketing industry
You work to master systems, a monetizable skill and you get paid to do it
Some advice for you
A. Don't get clients to pay you if you cannot get the results
B. Work for free initially to get your reps in and a testimonial from your client
C. Practice the skill for 30 days before working for free (at least 30 days)
D. Manage your expectations
