Very few realize that everything starts in the feet in terms of athleticism & movement
It's so important to your overall health - but in our urbanite society SO overlooked and not enough is done to protect their healthy function
How to Fix Your Feet🦢🏼
Firstly, why are your feet even important?
They have: 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons
your feet are incredibly complex. They provide suspension and support to the ankle, knee, and hip
If your feet don't, the ankle, knee, hip will eat that stress
let's talk about why our feet are f**ked
1. we don't move NEAR enough
2. and when we do- we have shoes with narrow toe boxes, and heel lifts, disabling our feet from doing their job
3. we don't strengthen the foot, but strengthen our hips/knees expecting feet to handle force
the first fix you can make is quit wearing shoes. go full barefoot bandit mode (homage @barefo0t_bandit - he never wears shoes in Miami lolz)
and if you have to - wear Vibrams or Vivos (or @ellobosalvaje 's when he releases them - they are absolutely FIRE)
@barefo0t_bandit @ellobosalvaje the one caveat is when running/sprinting/jumping (anything high impact) you'll want some cushion - but outside of that, you want to let your toes spread, and let your anterior foot/arch musculature fire- which can't happen with a heel lift in a shoes
@barefo0t_bandit @ellobosalvaje the next thing you can do is start strengthening/stretching your feet so that they can function properly
towel curls (shown below)
marble toe squeezes
holding pressure on your arches
Golf ball on arches
@barefo0t_bandit @ellobosalvaje not only will this help your foot musculature provide support, but there are tons of nerve endings in the foot - helping your fascial/muscular system in the body fire better
@barefo0t_bandit @ellobosalvaje the higher your arch can sit, and keep your foot complex strong and stable, with your inside ankle bone high, the more safely you can apply pressure into the ground and conversely the more power your body will give you
