If one is overweight or obese, lifestyle & behaviour changes to achieve & maintain 7% of initial body weight & moderate-intensity physical activity (such as brisk walking) to at least 150 minutes/week can help prevent or delay onset of T2 #Diabetes
So if your BMI is in overweight or obese range for your race, and say your weight is 70 kg, a sustained weight loss of even 5-7 kg with a change in diet and regular exercise can reduce the risk of future diabetes.
The WHO guidelines for Asian individuals define overweight as a BMI between 23 and 24.9 kg/m2 and obesity as a BMI >25 kg/m2.
This is how to calculate your BMI on your phone calculator. eg: Weight is 73 kg, height is 165 cm, which is 1.65 m. BMI is weight in kg divided by height in metre square. You can also Google BMI calculator and calculate.
