How to shop for groceries to save time and drop 40lbs in 6 months:
Jan 1: 220lbs fat man
July 1: 180lbs skinny boi
I dropped roughly a pound and a half of fat per week for 6 months
Here’s how I shopped for groceries during that time:
Make a route
I can't stress this enough
Make a route and never deviate from it
-You'll save time
-You'll avoid temptations
-You'll never forget something
The goal is to be in and out within 20 minutes
The game plan:
1. Shop the perimeter for whole foods
2. Weave the aisles for spices/condiments etc
3. GTFO of there
Here's what a typical trip should look like if you want to get jacked:
1. Fruit
The first section of the grocery store is usually fruit
My go-tos by season are:
Winter: apples, bananas, oranges
Spring: kiwis, mongos, strawberries
Summer: watermelon, pineapple, peaches
Fall: melons, pears, grapes
Sunday haul should last 3-5 days
2. Vegetables
You can eat an absurd amount of veggies without blowing your diet
My favorites are:
-Brocoli
-Carrots
-Asparagus
-Green beans
-Red peppers
3. Sourdough
The oldest bread in the world
Sourdough is an excellent source of:
-Vitamins
-Minerals
-Antioxidants
If it’s good enough for the Romans it’s good enough for me
4. Protein
Next is the protein
Depending on my stage of fat loss I'll buy:
-Salmon
-Horse meat
-Chicken breasts
-Extra-lean ground beef
-Steaks 1-2 nights per week
5. Eggs
Eggs are full of vitamins and minerals like:
-Cholin
-Selenium
-Phosphorus
-Vitamin B12
-Antioxidants
6. Dairy
The next stop is dairy
My staples are:
-Kefir
-Butter
-Rice pudding
-Greek yogurt
-Cottage cheese
That's it for the perimeter. Time for the aisles
7. Sparkling water
Artificial sweeteners won’t kill you.
And if they do then you probably weren’t going to last long anyways
If they make you happy and keep you on track, go for it.
8. Baking products
The next aisle is baking products
If you’re a protein pancake fan then you’ll need to pick up some:
Oats
Vanilla extract
Baking powder
Pumpkin purée
Pure Maple syrup
9. Condiments
Using sauces with hundreds of calories is a great way to never get lean
My staples are:
Siracha
Ketchup
Mustard
Light mayo
Franks red hot
Always go zero cal or as low cal as possible
11. Spices
The key to cooking delicious protein is to season it well
Garlic
Cumin
Paprika
Chili powder
Onion powder
Spices are the spice of life
That’s about all you need to eat to get jacked
