8 Fat Loss Myths which are keeping you stuck in the same place -
1. CARBS make you Fat
Carbs are just an energy source - 1 gm carb has 4 Calories.
Excess energy intake makes you gain fat. It’s all about calories in vs calories out.
As long as you're in an overall calorie deficit you can eat carbs and lose fat.
2. FATS makes you Fat
Again, FAT is just an energy source - 1 gm fat has 9 Calories.
Fats are more calorie-dense than carbs or protein (4 Cal/g), so what. Just eat in net calorie deficit.
In fact, atleast 20% of your Calories should come from fats for healthy hormonal levels.
3. Fat Loss Workouts
Gym workouts don't burn fat. We lift to gain/retain muscle mass while losing fat.
Higher muscle mass means greater metabolism.
For fat loss, calorie deficit must be created majorly through diet.
So the formula is:
Train to get stronger.
Eat to get leaner.
4. Cardio is needed for Fat Loss
Cardio comes after strength training. It is optional.
Use it to keep your heart healthy, to boost your calorie deficit. But never as the main driver of fat loss.
Cardio can't make up for a bad diet.
So the formula is:
80% Weights, 20% Cardio
5. Keto Diet Burns Fat
No magic diet burns the fat on its own.
All diets work by creating a caloric deficit - the first law of thermodynamics.
Don’t force yourself to follow exotic diets - if it doesn't fit your life.
You can get better results from basic Skillful Eating.
6. Intermittent Fasting Burns Fat
It doesn't.
IF can be a great way to manage your hunger and calorie intake - to create a calorie deficit.
But you can get the same results from 2,3 or 4 meals a day with a calorie deficit.
Choose the right meal plan for your lifestyle.
7. Lesser you eat, faster are results
No! Too big of a deficit harms your health. It makes you-
β€’ malnourished, tired & always hungry
β€’ lose muscle instead of fat
This is the wrong way to lose weight.
Play the long game with moderate deficit and watch yourself succeed.
8. Fat burner supplements
These are scams. And some are actively harmful.
Avoid:
- Diet pills
- Weight loss Tea
- Herbal Remedies for Fat Loss
They don't make your body lighter, only your wallet.
