VITAMIN D/K2
Vitamin D is one of the most important nutrients for overall health β€” it supports your entire body. Vitamin D acts on over 1,000 genes and is a building block for sex hormones like testosterone, HGH, and estrogen. It also boosts immunity, curbs inflammation, and assists in bone formation. Vitamin D also plays an important role in regulating mood and has been shown to decrease the risk of depression. Maintaining proper levels of vitamin D is crucial for optimal health.
Your body makes vitamin D from sun exposure on the skin, but because of modern lifestyles, many people have insufficient vitamin D levels. Symptoms of vitamin D insufficiency include tiredness, muscle pain or weakness, stress fractures, hair loss, and depression and anxiety.
It is estimated that up to 75% of people are vitamin D deficient. You should be getting a regular vitamin D blood test and targeting a level of 50-100 ng/mL. If you can’t get enough vitamin D via sunlight, consider supplementing 1,000 IU per 25 lbs of body weight.
It is essential that you maintain proper vitamin D levels in order for your body to function properly.
You need to take vitamin K2 MK-7 along with your vitamin D because they work together to transport calcium from the blood to the bones, which is beneficial for both the bones & the heart. And don’t forget to supplement with magnesium to ensure proper activation of vitamin D & regulation of calcium.
MAGNESIUM
Magnesium is the 4th most abundant mineral in the body and is involved in over 600 metabolic and enzymatic reactions, including energy production, blood pressure regulation, nerve signal transmission, muscle contraction, protein synthesis, DNA support, blood sugar regulation, bone formation, and vitamin D activation. Magnesium is also vital to thyroid health, hormone balance, and neurotransmitter regulation. While magnesium is found in a wide variety of foods, many people don't get enough of it in their diets. Getting a proper amount of magnesium can help lower the risk of depression and anxiety, promote better sleep quality, and help to lower systemic inflammation.
A good rule of thumb for magnesium supplementation is 10mg of elemental Mg per kg of body weight.
ASHWAGANDHA
Ashwagandha is a plant that has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to restore depleted tissues, frazzled nerves, and low libido. As an adaptogenic herb, it helps your body to manage stress and cortisol levels, relieves anxiety and depression, regulates blood sugar and cholesterol, and improves sexual function, brain function, and sleep. Chronically elevated cortisol levels can have a material adverse impact on long-term health. KSM-66 is an ashwagandha root extract that has been clinically shown to promote cognitive function, stress management, sleep, endurance, and recovery.
A daily dose of ashwagandha is 400-800mg.
VITAMIN C
Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective dietary supplements. It is needed for collagen and connective tissue formation, it is used to manufacture glutathione in the body (a powerful antioxidant), it can enhance immune function and fight free radical damage, and it plays an important role in brain function. Taking 500-1,000mg per day ensures you get enough of this powerhouse vitamin.
QUERCETIN
Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant made from plant polyphenols, and it plays an important role in helping your body combat free radical damage, which is linked to chronic diseases. It has anticancer and antiviral properties, and plays an important role in fighting inflammation and boosting immunity. It also has anti-histamine efects and, as a zinc ionophore, it helps zinc move into your body's cells.
ZINC/COPPER
Zinc serves hundreds of critcal tasks in the body to keep you healthy. It is a key mineral in support of healthy immune function, energy production, and mood. It also helps balance hormones and decrease inflammation. Zinc and copper combine in the body to form a powerful antioxidant called Copper Zinc Superoxide Dismutase.
Taking zinc without copper can cause a copper imbalance, so be sure to supplement zinc to copper in a 7-15:1 ratio.
UBIQUINOL
Ubiquinol, also called CoenzymeQ10 (CoQ10), is a potent antioxidant that helps your cells generate energy and improves mitochondrial function. It also protects against oxidative damage from free radicals. Ubiquinol plays a key role in keeping your skin healthy and looking young. Studies have shown that ubiquinol supplementation reduced signs of aging in the skin, including improved hydration, skin thickness, elasticity, and the appearance of wrinkles. Other research-backed benefits of ubiquinol include supporting heart health, slowing age-related cognitive decline, and improving exercise performance.
RESVERATROL
Resveratrol is a powerful polyphenol. Studies have pointed to benefits of resveratrol such as reduced inflammation and oxidative stress, improvements in memory tasks, improvements in metabolic and cardiac markers, positive recomposition of blood lipids, and increased insulin sensitivity. Resveratrol is being heavily studied for its anti-aging properties, and several studies have suggested that it can slow down age-related cognitive decline and extend lifespan.
Not all resveratrol is created equal. You need to make sure it’s 98-99% trans-resveratrol. Resveratrol is the general product name of a dietary supplement containing polyphenols, whereas trans-resveratrol is the active ingredient found in resveratrol.
IODINE
Iodine plays a vital role in maintaining healthy thyroid function and metabolism. It also improves immune system function and protects against brain damage, Iodine deficiency is common unless you eat iodine-rich foods like seafood at every meal. Physically active people need to pay extra attention to their iodine intake since the mineral is lost through sweat.
B COMPLEX
B vitamins play many essential roles in the body. They convert food to energy, act as antioxidants, play a role in DNA production and repair, are involved in hormone and cholesterol production, help produce neurotransmitters, and much more. They can reduce stress, boost mood, boost energy, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Many people are at risk of B vitamin deficiencies, and chronic stress depletes B vitamins.
TONGKAT ALI
Testosterone levels in men drop as they age, with the peak usually around age 17-19.
T is involved in many bodily functions, including:
β€’ Sex drive
β€’ Bone mass
β€’ Fat distribution & storage
β€’ Muscle growth
β€’ Red blood cell production
β€’ Hair growth
β€’ Mood
Declining testosterone levels can lead to all sorts of undesirable outcomes.
Tongkat Ali is also known as Malaysian ginseng. Several studies have shown that TA increases total & free T as well as improves muscle strength. Studies also show that TA stimulates sexual arousal, may improve erectile dysfunction, and may boost fertility.
SODIUM BUTYRATE
Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA). It’s one of the three most common SCFAs in your gut. The primary health benefits of butyric acid and other SCFAs are related to their ability to provide colon cells with energy.
Studies have shown that supplementing with sodium butyrate is effective at reducing the symptoms of IBS & Chron’s disease.
KRILL OIL
The omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA are essential for brain, heart, joint, and eye health. They are among the most studied nutrients in the world and have been shown to have powerful effects on:
β€’ lowering blood triglycerides
β€’ reducing the risk of colon, prostate, & breast cancers
β€’ reducing excess fat in the liver
β€’ reducing inflammation & symptoms of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis
β€’ improving symptoms of ADHD
β€’ preventing asthma
β€’ reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease & dementia
β€’ improving several risk factors for heart disease
β€’ reducing the incidence of depression & anxiety
β€’ improving eye health
β€’ reducing symptoms of metabolic syndrome
β€’ when taken during pregnancy, improving the baby’s intelligence & eye health
Unlike fish oil, krill oil contains a powerful antioxidant called astaxanthin which helps krill oil resist oxidation. Astaxanthin also has powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Krill oil also contains phospholipids which play an important role in giving krill oil its superior qualities.
Relative to fish oil, krill oil has been shown to:
β€’ be more bioavailable
β€’ better support cognitive function & neuro-regeneration
β€’ significantly reduce inflammatory cytokines
β€’ better regulate blood lipid levels
Most people who eat a standard western diet are not getting enough omega-3’s. It’s important to only take a high quality omega-3 supplement because oxidized fish/krill oil can harm your health.
NAC
NAC is a derivative of the semi-essential amino acid L-cysteine, which the body produces from methionine & serine.
Consuming adequate cysteine is essential for replenishing glutathione (GSH), which is the most powerful antioxidant in the body.
GSH is the most abundant antioxidant in the body & is responsible for maintaining the oxidative balance in your cells. It is essential for immune health & to ward off cellular damage.
NAC has been shown to:
β€’ improve brain health
