How to change the structure of your face
Your facial structure isn't all genetics. It can be transformed even after you're fully done 'developing'
6 steps to improve your jawline & facial structure
I ran into a friend from college the other week. She said I look like a different person, as if I got a jaw transplant
I didn't really consider it at the time, but looking back at old photos, she's right.
My face has effectively changed structure.
Sharper, stronger jaw, Pronounced browline, less puffiness in my cheeks.
And this wasn't by accident
There's a reason we find symmetrical & sharp faces attractive: It signals good health & genetic quality
Bilateral symmetry is an indicator of developmental stability. It showcases ones ability to develop according to its genetic blueprint despite environmental stresses
Angular, prominent facial features are associated with higher levels of testosterone & an indicator of fertility.
Remember, genetics don't predetermine, they predispose. Your facial structure will be largely determined by your development, but it's not too late to improve:
Most of my improvements in facial structure came between the ages of 23 & 24, well after most people consider the development window to be closed
I'm also at an innate disadvantage with a broken orbital socket & deviated septum, both contributors to facial asymmetry
STEP 1: I retaught myself how to breathe:
Mouth Breathing makes you ugly, sick, & dumb
It will weaken the structural integrity of your face, reduce oxygen absorption, and leave you prone to sleep apnea & sinus infections
Make nose breathing a habit at all costs
The more you breathe through your mouth, the more inflamed your adenoids & tonsils become.
These tissues overgrow & take up space more in your throat. Making nose breathing more difficult
Use nasal strips, tape your mouth at night. The more you do it the easier it becomes
STEP 2: Proper tongue posture
Yes, mewing. You've probably heard of it. Its 100% legit
Keep your tongue pressed on the top of your mouth, apply deliberate pressure. Try to create a vacuum by swallowing 3 times. Eventually this will become your natural resting position
This upward pressure, in theory, can influence the shape & positioning of the maxilla, forming the base of the nose, orbit, and roof of the nasal cavity
Mewing also improves & encourages nasal breathing, further increasing structural facial integrity
Step 3: Training your Masseters
Your face has 42 muscles. Like other muscles, they can grow & define with training
Defined muscles = defined face
The easiest way to consistently train your masseters is mastic gum.
I've been using it for the last 1.5 years & its been a major contributor to my facial hypertrophy
The gum I use: grecogum.com
Our modern diets have rendered our masseters underutilized & underdeveloped.
Boiled food, smoothies, soft grains. All contributors to weak facial structure
Chew more gristle, eat raw carrots, Learn to properly utilize your bite force
Step 4: Body fat & inflammation
This is a no-brainer. Ditch the extra lbs & your muscle & bone structure will be more pronounced
Another important aspect here is inflammation, which leads to water retention (edema)
A big contributor to my lack of facial structure was water retention. This was brought on by poor lymphatic flow & liver function.
Also likely caused by estrogen imbalance
If you're swelled & puffy in the AM, your overnight detox function is likely compromised.
Also look at food sensitivities like Gluten. The primary side effect is fluid retention in the sinuses
Fix your hormones, improve natural detox, address food sensitivities
In short, stop poisoning yourself with junk food & sedentary lifestyles.
Sweat more, get in natural bodies of water, get grounded. Use herbal aids if you need an extra boost in detox capabilities
Step 5: Prioritize fat-soluble vitamins & mineral content
Weston A Price was big on this. He noticed strong correlations between western diets & facial degeneration
Fat-soluble vitamins enable you to properly absorb minerals.
Traditional diets incorporated all of these components:
- We had to work for our food more, chewing gristle & tubers
- Our food was naturally nutrient-dense, promoting better development & facial outcomes
- traditional lifestyle & diet made it difficult to pack on extra lbs
We unfortunately no longer live in this environment. We not only carry the toxic burden of our lifespan, but the lifespans of our parents & grandparents as well
Modern problems require ingenuity & novel solutions.
Step 6: Train martial arts, grappling in particular
Yes I'm serious. If you want your body to grow, you have to give it reason to grow.
Wrestling & JiuJitsu force your traps, neck & face to grow, improving structural outcomes.
Just look at @gabepluguez
Now the most important part of all of this is changing your internal state. Stop living cushy, comfortable lives void of effort & exertion. Your physiognomy is a mirror of who you are & will change according to your thoughts & actions
being a good person makes you attractive
These are the things that I did, & it worked out better than I could have imagined.
Surely there will be pencil necks & mouth breathers in the comments saying "it's not possible"
But whats the worst case scenario here? you end up with better oxygen utilization, gut health, skin health, body composition, physiognomy, and physical performance?
Try now, the sooner you start the better
