The most popular scientist of our time?
Dr. Andrew Huberman.
I’ve listened to his fat loss podcast 3 times.
Here are his top 5 science-backed strategies to help you easily & effectively shed body fat:
1. Activate Brown Fat through Cold Exposure
Cold exposure activates brown fat, which is powerful for burning calories and boosting your metabolism.
Start your day with a cold shower or integrate ice baths into your weekly routine.
2. Optimize Your Diet for Hormonal Support
Eat fatty fish and grass-fed meats, and snack on Brazil nuts.
These foods support hormone balance, essential fatty acid levels, and thyroid function, essential for efficient metabolism and fat burning.
3. Use Hybrid HIIT to Enhance Fat Mobilization
Combine high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with moderate continuous training (MICT).
This mix maximizes fat oxidation and mobilization, which is key for reducing stubborn fat.
Do 20 mins of HIIT followed by 20 mins of MICT.
4. Leverage NEAT for Increased Caloric Burn
Engage in non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) to accelerate fat loss.
Small, consistent movements throughout the day can significantly boost your daily calorie burn and your metabolic rate.
E.g., standing, walking, fidgeting.
5. Smart Supplementation
Acetyl-L-carnitine aids in fat oxidation (converting fat to energy), enhancing fat loss efficiency.
It also supports cellular metabolism, which improves overall health and reduces exercise fatigue.
Take 500 mg to 2 grams per day in divided doses.
To recap:
• Activate brown fat through cold exposure
• Optimize your diet to support your hormones
• Use hybrid HIIT for stubborn body fat
• Use NEAT to increase caloric burn & metabolism
• Utilize L-carnitine to enhance fat burning
